Fortunately, with so many new software products, it
is very easy for a non-technical person to get up and running with a
website and email. Unlike other large corporately owned providers,
we take the time to walk beginners through the process.
Web hosting refers to the process of publishing a web site so that
it is available to the world on the Web. Paid web hosting also
involves getting a domain name and not having forced ads displayed
on your site.
Like anything, you get what you pay for. The lure of
a $9 a month website is attractive, but the only way those companies
can make any money is by cutting corners or sacrificing service,
like bandwidth, availability, technical support. We wouldn't
recommend choosing any service that seems to good to be true. We
maintain high bandwidth, availability, and excellent customer
support. A lot of our customers come from those "low ball" services
after getting frustrated.
This depends on your preferences. Large companies might be
considered industry leaders and have a very large scope of services.
Small web hosting companies are usually cheaper, provide better
support for individuals and small businesses, and are quicker to
offer new features. Large companies employee people who need jobs.
Small companies employee people who have a stake in the business and
care about their clients.
A Virtual Domain means having your own domain name (http://www.your-name.com)
without having to install expensive server hardware and software.
With a Virtual Domain, you utilize our servers storage space,
however you are still professionally represented via your own
personal Internet web address domain name (www.your-name.com) and by
your own personal e-mail address domain name (you@your-name.com).
We can help you find and secure a domain name that you love!
Domain registration is the process that allows you to reserve an
Internet Domain name, like www.your-name.com. When you reserve a
domain name, your pay a registration fee to the Registrar and are
associating the name with your ownership for a limited period of
time, typically 2 years or more. At the end of the registration
period, you can renew it for another period of time that you choose.
We can reserve your domain name on your behalf at no extra charge.
Yes, you will be able to access the domain address with or without
the "www" in front of the domain name. Example: [http://www.your-name.com]
or [http://your-name.com] is acceptable, whichever you prefer. We
set it up both ways.
No, you will need local Internet access in order to maintain your
web site and retrieve email addressed to your site. Due to the mass
interconnectivity of the Internet, you'll be able to connect to your
website and email from virtually any internet connection in the
world. If you have questions about how your current Internet access
works with our system, please contact us via e-mail.
Yes. We will either request a new name on your behalf or help you
transfer your existing domain name to our servers. We do not charge
for these services. (There is a registration fee that goes directly
to the domain registrar when reserving a new name.)
Yes, there is no charge to transfer a domain name to our servers. We
can assist in the process. When the transfer is complete, there is
typically a 72 hour propagation period where visitors could go to
either site. After that time, your previous web hosting service can
be cancelled.
Once the registration system announces that your domain name has
been registered (or transferred), it usually takes about 24-72-hours
before it is active. All Internet providers must update their
records (DNS tables) to reflect the new site's location.
If you are using one of the easy to use web page design programs
like Microsoft FrontPage, you just click on the "publish" button
and specify where you want to publish it to (we supply that
information.) You can also use and FTP program like ws_ftp (there is
a free edition you can download or Fetch for Macintosh users. A FTP
tutorial is also available for beginner users who may not be
familiar with FTP.
Yes! You have unlimited access your website and email 24-hours a day. As
such, you can create and maintain your web pages on your own
computer and upload files to your web site at your leisure.
Yes, you can use your account for commercial purposes. The World
Wide Web has become the most efficient and cost-effective means of
making information available to the users of the Internet community
and we encourage our customers to utilize such an enormous medium.
New accounts are generally set up within 24 hours from the time we
receive your order. Once an account is set up an activation notice
will be sent to you via email including your user-ID, password, and
FTP hostname. You can begin uploading files to your new web site
immediately. Domain account users will be given a temporary URL to
access their site via the web prior to the completion of either
domain registration or domain modification.
Yes, we do allow you to create subdirectories which you can use to
offer friends or clients space as long as its within our
policy
guidelines. You can also request additional FTP accounts with
limited access to a specific directory for a small additional setup
charge.
Yes, for a one time $25 setup fee for each additional domain we
can mirror your main web pages and mail system. This is a great way
to expand the marketing of your present business. You can have www.nameA.com and www.nameB.com pointed to the same place.
Sorry, this is something we do not presently offer.
Yes, We can give you a third level domain name such as
yourname.yourname.com or if you have a existing domain with us
anyname.yourdomain.com. The packages are the same as the one posted
for normal domains, the advantage to these is InterNIC registration
is not needed. This means no InterNIC registration fees.
